Behringer SPICE
This semi-modular analog polyrhythmic and subharmonic synthesizer is designed to create exceptionally rich and powerful soundscapes. Its pure analog signal path is built on authentic VCO, VCF, and VCA circuits, delivering the warm, classic tone associated with vintage synthesis. The dual VCO features square and sawtooth waveforms, complemented by four sub-oscillators, providing an extensive and versatile sonic palette. By layering oscillators, the instrument generates six sound sources, resulting in a 6-note pseudo-polyphonic output.
Sound shaping is handled by a multi-mode 24 dB resonant ladder filter with precise control over cutoff, resonance, and envelope parameters. The dual 4-step analog sequencer, combined with a built-in polyrhythm generator, enables the creation of complex and inspiring grooves and rhythmic patterns. Variable quantizers allow easy adjustment of intervals, supporting both tempered and just intonation tuning systems.
The VCA section includes Attack, Decay, and Volume controls, while the VCF features a dedicated envelope generator with Attack, Decay, and Envelope parameters. Tempo can be controlled manually or synchronized to an external clock source. Thanks to its semi-modular architecture, the synthesizer is ready to use without patching, while the 16×16 I/O matrix provides extensive and flexible patching capabilities for advanced users.
With 57 dedicated controls, all essential parameters are accessible in real time, ensuring an intuitive and hands-on creative workflow. Multiple clock sources, including MIDI and USB, allow seamless synchronization with other devices, while comprehensive MIDI implementation offers full control over channel selection and voice priority settings.
